How the fee works

Two fees come off every sale: a Steam transaction fee of 5 % and a fee set by the game the item belongs to — 10 % for Counter-Strike 2 and the other Valve games. Both are a share of what the seller receives, not of the listed price, and each has a floor of 0.01 in your wallet currency. The buyer pays the listed price; you get the rest. We have not yet read these rates directly on Valve's Market FAQ from this side; they are the rates the Market has used for years and the ones every guide repeats, and this line will carry a date once a person has confirmed them there.

Why the cents can differ

Steam computes the fees in the smallest unit of your wallet currency, rounds each one, and works from the buyer’s price down. This calculator does the same in two-decimal arithmetic. On most prices the results match; on some they differ by one cent. The listing dialog on Steam shows the exact figure before you confirm.

Market activity is one of the public signals a Steam profile check looks at — not the amounts, only whether the account has a trading history at all.

Questions people ask

Why do I get 0.87 from a 1.00 listing in CS2?

1.00 ÷ 1.15 ≈ 0.87 goes to you; 5 % of that (0.04) is Steam’s fee and 10 % (0.09) is the CS2 fee. The two fees add to 0.13.

Can I get the money out of Steam?

No. Market proceeds go to the Steam Wallet and stay there. A number in the wallet is not a number in a bank account, and this page does not treat it as one. Items you have not sold yet are a different story: CS2 skins in your inventory can be traded in for Imbaboost balance on our skins top-up page, and you see what each one is worth before you send it.

Is there a minimum or maximum price?

Listings start at 0.03 (the smallest price where both fees can take their 0.01 floor and leave the seller 0.01), and Valve caps single listings at an amount that varies by currency. The listing dialog tells you if you are outside either.
