Counter Strike 2 is changing how you buy weapons. The buy menu layout, the range of available guns and the refund mechanics are all getting an overhaul. Here is what's coming.
The traditional circular buy menu, once at the center of the screen, has been replaced with a shop display built from rectangular tiles. Weapon selection changes too. As experienced players are aware, distinct variations of weapons existed, such as the M4A4 and M4A1-s, as well as the Five-SeveN and CZ-75.
Previously, the choice was confined to a single type throughout the match. The new system lets you customize your loadout and take both suppressed and high-damage guns. This flexibility extends to weapons like the Deagle and Revolver, Teca and CZ-75 for the Terrorists, or the M-P7 and MP-5. Similar to its predecessor, Counter Strike 2 will continue to feature five weapons per category.
The weapon refund system got reworked as well. Gone are the days of accidentally purchasing a scout instead of an AK. During the purchase phase you can undo a buy and get your money back.

Counter Strike 2 and the new physics engine
There is a second big change in Counter Strike 2: a new physics engine. Havok served the series since 2000, but Valve relied on an external license, which limited what it could customize.
In response, Valve has introduced its own Rubicon engine. You won't notice it much in ranked play, but it shows in the small stuff, starting with object physics. Havok struggled to render piles of dead characters realistically, so models would contort or flicker. With the new ragdoll physics, character models fall naturally and settle against each other. The same goes for items: bottles actually fit into buckets now. It also opens the door for better community maps, mini-games and training scenarios.
